Seafood Restaurant Startup

Situation

One of the principal investors in a seafood restaurant startup (260 person capacity) in a small town in Pennsylvania contacted us to conduct a feasibility study.

Problem

The restaurant was going to be in a renovated brick building in a rapidly recovering historical district, but the renovation and construction were running over budget, and banks and investors were concerned the project was becoming infeasible.

Solution

We reviewed the projected and actual financials, business and marketing plan; reviewed dozens of articles and websites on the district; looked at competitors, and prepared additional financial projections under different scenarios. Despite the cost overruns, the project was extremely attractive. We concluded the project was feasible and recommended they proceed.

Benefit

The restaurant had a successful opening, and several years later it is doing well.
