International Company Expanding Operations to United States

SITUATION
An international dairy company planned to design and construct its first US manufacturing facility.

PROBLEM
To design and build a facility to manufacture products for the US market and the rest of the Americas.  Because of authentic recipes, the facility had to be designed with the right combination of pasteurization, separation and culture processes to produce products to meet the specific consistency of their international products.

SOLUTION
Provided design services for a new 145,00 ft2 facility which housed (4) filling lines, (5) packaging lines, cooling tunnels and a 40°F warehouse. The completely automated process maintains high levels of hygiene and safety during operation.  (4) milk silos at the site provide a storage capacity of 400,000 gallons of unpasteurized milk, 10,000 pallets of finished goods and 19,000 gallons of pasteurized cream.  Success on initial plant design resulted in design of (5) major additions over a 10-year period.  Site expanded to 430,000 ft².

BENEFITS

Company was the first to sell Greek yogurt in the United States.  The state-of-the-art facility is now the largest of the company’s facilities, manufacturing products for the US market and the rest of the Americas.
