Getting the Right People in the Right Seats

SITUATION
20-year-old company wanted to hire a sales manager; founder realized he had grown beyond his ability to wear so many hats.

 PROBLEM
Expensive geographic area and a tight labor market made it difficult to find a sales manger with appropriate experience in their price range.

 SOLUTION
Two-day workshop to determine current team dynamics using assessment tools, facilitation of mission/vision, company cohesiveness and goal setting. Realized we had people in key management and sales roles who were not qualified to do the job. Tried to coach each into raising their performance; some were retained, one was elevated to sales manager, one was replaced and some left because the culture change was too disruptive to them. Hired several new people using Job Benchmarking and assessment tools to get the best fit.

 BENEFITS
The right people are in the right seats; everyone gets coaching, sets goals and becomes accountable. The team is strong, collaborative and highly functioning going into the 2020 Coronavirus crisis. Lower turnover, higher productivity.
