SITUATION
The food manufacturer does not make enough profit on the 6 SKUs breakfast snack mix that is already sold in the retail.
PROBLEM
The formulation is not optimized in terms of ingredient usage level. However, since the product had been in the market, the nutritional facts and ingredient list couldn’t’ change.
SOLUTION
We developed an in-house proprietary “hybrid approach” for optimization of the product by using computer simulation engineering and food science-based benchtop work to optimize the formulation cost while having no effects on the final product, nutritional info, and ingredient labels.
BENEFITS
The ingredient cost for production dropped by 20-25% for the 6 SKUs.
