Achieving Success in Cannabis Confectionaries: From Idea to Reality!

Situation

I assisted a new entrepreneur in Canada who had no experience in manufacturing but wanted to start a cannabis edibles business. His goal was to create six candy SKU products and he needed guidance and support throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Problem

The entrepreneur needed products created and faced additional challenges due to his lack of knowledge about ingredient sourcing, manufacturing methods, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, he had no prior experience in recipe development and scaling up production, making it difficult for him to navigate the complexities of starting a cannabis edibles business.

Solution

We conducted in-depth research on ingredients, suppliers, and manufacturing methods. Additionally, we developed recipes for six candy SKUs, procured the necessary ingredients, and created R&D samples leading to the production of final prototypes. We also scaled up the recipes and provided an Excel sheet for calculating ingredient amounts for different batch sizes. To ensure efficient and high-quality manufacturing, we prepared a digital standard operating procedure (SOP) and offered on-demand assistance and training during the pilot run, troubleshooting any unexpected issues that arose, procured equipment, and developed key supplier relationships.
