SITUATION
Manufacturer secured private brand business with a leading Canadian retailer by taking business away from leading Canadian private brand manufacturer, based on price. Logistics challenges of servicing a retailer with 10+ warehouses throughout Canada proved un- profitable for manufacturer and inefficient for retailer. Prior supplier regained business within two years.
PROBLEM
The potential Canadian market private brand volume was significant and we needed to develop a more cost-effective way to penetrate the Great White North. Logistics challenges and retailer loyalties to large Canadian manufacturer had to be overcome.
SOLUTION
We approached the Canadian manufacturer/competitor with a plan to co-pack all the retailers’ brands for them. We provided superior product and packaging, while we both took advantage of their tremendous nationwide sales and distribution network.
