Soft Cheese Package

Situation

Processor and Packager of a retail line of baked brie products wished to automate their packaging line.

Problem

How to develop a high barrier packaging, compatible to existing automated packaging equipment that would conform to the cheese in such a way as to support modified atmosphere packaging as well produce an attractive retail package.

Solution

Through close coordination with the cheese packager and multiple qualification trials, located and then specified and supplied, from an existing stock line of high barrier forming films, a transparent forming film that met the MAP requirements as well as confirmed closely to the cheese rounds. Then specified and supplied a custom designed peelable lidding to seal and compliment the final package.
